Bare skin screeches
On the sticky gym floor.
Pale skin ripped
Now pink, tender, bleeding.
None of that matters
For the ball is shooting gracefully in the air.
Quickly get up now,
Be ready to hit it,
Hit it hard
Hit it powerfully.
Thump! the setter sets.
Now or never: to hit!
Right!
Left!

Thwack!
Smack!
The ball is over the net
Bouncing on the ground.
Blue team wins.
