Literature Text

She glides confidently,
Passing the mirror
Her eye catches her gorgeous reflection,
So she pauses.

Her golden skin is tight,
Arms and legs muscular.
Her hair curls gently
Like honey cascading from her scalp.

Bright, shimmering
Her eyes bounce from one
Section to another.
Her eyes jump and spring
Full of its own life.

Before her gaze,
Her skin begins to sag,
Turning to a sickly gray.
The hair, which perfectly flowed,
Flattens, falls, just strands of gnarled string.

Water
Seeps into her eyes
Tears pushing their way
Into the green abyss.

Softly, she lets them go.
Gently, I let them fall.

Even though they’re free
They roll slowly.
I feel they’re uncontrollable heat
Slide down my face.

I turn away.
She leaves.
I don’t even recognize myself.
I wrote this during Language Arts, when I was supposed to be wokring on my Nazi propaganda research paper. But instead Zach and I had a "who-can-write-a-better-emo-but-doesn't-involve-death-poem" contest.

And I won. :]

Also, I'm looking for a better title, so got any ideas? I'd love to hear them!
